Georgina and Daniel's Wedding - Salisbury Arts Centre - 6th May 2017

Salisbury Arts Centre - Wiltshire
Georgina and Daniel First Dance - Wiltshire Wedding

On 6th May we headed down to the breathtaking Salisbury Arts Centre in Wiltshire for Georgina and Daniel's Wedding Day.

Georgina and Daniel had booked us after seeing us performing live at a friends wedding at Dodmoor House in Northamptonshire, and had had such a fantastic time at that wedding that they booked straight away!

Wiltshire Wedding Band

The Salisbury Arts Centre was formerly St Edmund’s Church, named after St Edmund who taught “the arts” in Oxford during the early 13th Century and was like no other we have played at.

The centre now hosts regular theatre groups and of course many celebrations and as you can see above is an amazing place for a wedding!

Carley - Taylormade Wedding Band

Daniel and Georgina's venue layout meant that we had to arrive much earlier than we normally would to set up and sound check before the evening guests arrived, as the stage area was right next to their Drinks Reception area.

We were very happy to offer our Early Set Up Service for them, to ensure we were set up and sound checked by 6.00pm as guests arrived.

WEDDING VENUE TIP: 99% of the time our Early Set Up Service is NOT needed for our Wedding Band, however if you are unsure about what's best for your Wedding Venue, please get in touch and we can work out the details.

4 Piece Wedding Band Taylormade

The excited couple had asked us to learn 'Tunnels' by Arcade Fire for their First Dance, and it was an absolute pleasure for us to perform this for them as the acoustic duo on the huge stage under the beautiful stain glass window!

Straight after the First Dance we kicked off the 4 Piece Live Band with the light streaming in through the stain glass windows as the sun went down, it was a brilliant evening in amazing surroundings!

Taylormade Wedding Band drum skin

Daniel had sent us a list of his favourite tracks to make the day more personal to him and Georgina so we kicked off the night with Queen's 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'.

Continuing with tracks from The Beatles, The Kinks and The Rolling Stones, it wasn't long before Daniel's 87 year old Grandmother was shaking her moves on the dance floor and showing the youngsters how it's done!

Between our sets, our cheeky TAYLORMADE drum skin even 'photo bombed' some pictures the guests were having....we can't take that drum skin anywhere without it causing trouble!

Filling the dance floor Taylormade Wedding Band

It was a fantastic evening for all and we'd like to say a massive congratulations to Georgina and Daniel, the brand new Mr and Mrs Van Der Leer, and wish them all the very best for their lives together!

THANK YOU'S:

Huge thanks go out to the audio/visual team at Salisbury Arts Centre for their services on the night. You guys rock!

Special thanks also go out to David Scammell Photography for taking these fantastic shots of us performing on Georgina and Daniel's special day.

Taylormade perform at Home Farm's Open Day in Braunston

It had been during our first performance at a wedding at Home Farm, back in August 2015, that owner Sue had told us she wanted us on their preferred suppliers list and we've been proud to be there ever since!

So when Sue asked us if we could provide some lovely music to create a beautiful atmosphere for the Open Day on Sunday 30th April 2017, we were over the moon to be invited, and very happy to do!

Having been taking bookings since just 2015, Home Farm is a new marquee wedding venue in the Northamptonshire countryside, with breathtaking views over the village of Braunston with it's gorgeous Church and Windmill.

The Open Day on 30th April was a first for Sue and her family, as this was their inaugural Open Day,  and the afternoon promised to be a real delight!

It was a fantastic chance for prospective couples to see Home Farm's marquee and view of Braunston in all it's beauty, but also to meet lots of highly recommended suppliers like ourselves, including Caterers, Florists, Cake Makers, Discos and Photographers to name just a few. What a day it was!

The weather held out for us and we even had a glimpse of sunshine despite the stormy conditions that had been hitting the UK for the past few days.

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to see us performing live, it was lovely to see so many new faces and it was also great to work alongside the other fantastic suppliers there.

Our thanks go out to Sue and the team for having us along. See you at the next one!

Michelle and Paul Nicoll's Spring Wedding at Kilworth House.

Massive congratulations to the lovely Michelle and Paul, the brand new Mr and Mrs Nicoll whose Wedding we played at on Saturday 15th April at the gorgeous Kilworth House Hotel in Leicestershire. We have played at weddings at Kilworth House many times but each time we come back we are always bowled over by it's beauty.

We played an acoustic set in the sunshine during the Drinks Reception on the beautiful terrace next to the Orangery. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and what better place to be! We played beautiful, chilled out acoustic versions of Beyonce's XO, Coldplay's Viva La Vida, and The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra.

We also played as the 4 Piece Live Band in the evening an were treated to a firework spectacular between the live band sets, when this beautiful shot of Michelle and Paul was taken (left).

Michelle and Paul had asked us to learn Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' which we played for their First Dance as Husband and Wife. It was a beautiful moment as they took to the floor surrounded by friends and family and that's a track that I'm sure will be requested by couples many more times this Summer.

Michelle and Paul thank you so much for having us be a part of your special day. We wish you all the very best for your lives together, filled with love, laughter and sunny days.

Love Carley and the boys xxx

9th July 2017 announced for the next Taylormade Public Showcase!

We are very pleased to say that our next Taylormade Duo and Live Band showcase will be on Sunday 9th July 2017 in Daventry, Northamptonshire and we have the following timeslots available:

3.00pm - 3.40pm, 3.40pm - 4.20pm and 4.20pm to 5.00pm

Please get in touch as soon as possible to secure your place as spaces are limited.

It's always a good idea to catch a band live, so you can see and hear them in action for yourself before you decide to book them for your wedding day.

You may have read this advice in Wedding magazines, forums and possibly heard it from Wedding Organisers themselves. It is certainly a good thing to do if you can - there are many Wedding Bands that sound very different playing live than in their carefully crafted studio recordings and videos. This can lead to a big disappointment on the day, by which time it is sadly too late.

Over the years we have regularly had couples asking us how they could see us live before they book. Unfortunately as we are a professional live band, the only performances we had were at Weddings, Corporate Events or Private Functions which we were unable to invite couples along to.

Then, when we were planning our own Wedding in 2010, we recognised how daunting it was to book a supplier straight off of the internet, with no real way to know what it would be like on your Wedding Day.

At Taylormade we have absolute confidence in our musical abilities and take great pride in our live performances. so with this in mind we started holding showcases every 3 months or so at our Band Hall in Daventry.

These regular 'Showcase Events' provide an opportunity for couples to come and see for themselves. You can meet us in person, see us live and get that all important peace of mind that we will sound great on your special day.

Each couple is given a private timeslot (unless we have a lot of demand and then there is a maximum of 2 couples per timeslot). At the start of the 45 minutes we will perform about 5 songs for you. These are usually a couple of tracks as the Acoustic Duo, if you are thinking of having the duo during your Ceremony or Drinks Reception, and then 3 tracks with the Party Duo or 4 Piece Live Band. You can choose 3 tracks off of our set lists if there are particular tracks you would like us to play, or leave it to us and we will choose 3 tracks to show you the variety, genres and decades in our repertoire.

Acoustic Duo Wedding.jpg

Once we have finished performing you will then have a one on one chat with either myself or Matt, and we can answer any questions, concerns or ideas you have for your special day.

All of the couples who have attended our showcases over the years have said how great it was to have that peace of mind leading up to the big day and so much more personal than planning everything via email.

Alternatively, if you can't make it to one of our showcases in Northamptonshire, then ask us about our 'Skype Showcases'. We can perform for you via Skype, chat through ideas for your Wedding Day and answer any questions you might have....without you having to leave the comfort of your living room! Sound good? Please get in touch!

We look forward to meeting you! Carley and the boys, Taylormade Duo and Live Wedding Band.

Kelly and Rob's Wedding - Crockwell Farm, Northamptonshire

This little beauty is on its way to Kelly and Rob, the brand new Mr and Mrs Haynes, whose Wedding we performed at on 25th February 2017 at the gorgeous Crockwell Farm Wedding Venue in Northamptonshire.

It's a beautiful little keepsake of their special day and this CD of 'Memories From Your Wedding Day' has some lovely recordings of Taylormade Acoustic Duo playing the songs we performed during their Ceremony and Drinks Reception. It was such a beautiful day and an absolute pleasure to be there at the moment they said 'I Do'.

EASTER 2017 UPDATE:

Claire and Nic's Wedding - Easter 2015 - Kilworth House, near Lutterworth

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have received some incredible news from Claire and Nic Ross whose Wedding we performed at back at Easter 2015 at the stunning Kilworth House in Leicestershire. Can you spot the news in the photo above?!

It's so lovely when we receive news like this as we love to see couples lives blossom as we were lucky enough to have been there at the moment they said "I Do".

Claire told me she is due in October so watch this space! If we are very lucky we may get a picture of the new addition!

Claire and Nic are such a sweet couple and we couldn't wish them any more success for their lives together.

We are so excited for you Claire and Nic, we can't wait to meet the new member of the Ellis-Ross family. Sending you lots of love. Carley and Matt XX

Claire and Nic Ross - Kilworth House - 6th April 2015

On Easter Monday we headed to the beautiful Kilworth House Hotel in Leicestershire to perform for Claire Ellis and Nic Ross on their Wedding Day. The weather was absolutely gorgeous with not a cloud in the sky, so we knew it was going to be a magical day!

Claire walking up the aisle to Nic - Kilworth House Wedding

Claire and Nic were getting married in The Orangery and as the sun streamed in through the windows we played two tracks as guests took their seats ready for Claire's big moment. We played 'Your Song' by Elton John, the a cover by Ellie Goulding and the first of two tracks we learnt especially for Claire and Nic which was 'First Day Of My Life' by Bright Eyes.

Claire's Bridal Entrance was to 'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri, a really beautiful track stripped back to just the acoustic and vocal. It was an emotional moment as Claire walked down the aisle holding her father’s hand to a beaming Nic and we found a lovely place to stop on the lyrics of 'I have loved you for a thousand years...and I'll love you for a thousand more'. There was not a dry eye in the house!"

For the signing of the register, (which usually takes around 10 minutes), we played the second track we had learned for Claire and Nic - 'Viva La Vida' by Coldplay followed by 'Everlong' by The Foo Fighters...famous as Chandler and Monica's Wedding song in 'Friends'!

Taylormade Acoustic Duo playing at Kilworth House

During the Ceremony there were 2 readings as is tradition, and there was a reading called 'A Lovely Love Story' By Edward Monkton. A beautiful story about two lovely dinosaurs with a message as old as time itself – that being together is better than being apart! A really fun story and one that breaks the nervousness of a ceremony with giggles and silliness!

Finally as Nic kissed his beautiful Bride, we played the timeless classic 'All You Need Is Love' as they exited as Husband and Wife...Mr and Mrs Ellis-Ross at the beginning of their journey with a whole lifetime ahead of them.

After the Wedding we received a lovely note from Claire saying "Thank you SO much for performing for us both. You were simply amazing and brought me to tears as I walked into the ceremony" Thank you for such kind words Claire, it was our pleasure.

Claire and Nic with their guests at Kilworth House Hotel in Leicestershire.

We wish Claire and Nic all the very best for their lives together and hope their days are filled with fun, laughter and sunny days!

Video - Kelly and Rob Haynes Wedding at Crockwell Farm, Northamptonshire

This gorgeous video was filmed and edited by Seb Biddle who took this video of Kelly and Rob's Wedding at the beautiful Crockwell Farm Wedding Venue in Eydon, Northamptonshire. Having been preferred suppliers of live wedding music to Crockwell Farm for over 5 years, this wasn't Taylormade's first visit, but it was a very special one.

Kelly had booked us to perform during the Wedding Ceremony itself, and then a 60 minute set during the Drinks Reception too. We met Seb whilst we were setting up on the day and he contacted us afterwards whilst he was putting the video together and asked if we could provide him with a couple of our tracks to add to the soundtrack. It was an absolute privilege to be asked and as you will hear we gave Seb our timeless version of 'Songbird' by Eva Cassidy and our beautiful acoustic cover of 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' by The Darkness.

Kelly had walked down the aisle to 'Songbird' and there wasn't a dry eye in the house! Kelly even emailed us after the day to say how everyone had been crying and thought that it was the Eva Cassidy CD version, and couldn't believe it was us performing live which was a massive compliment.

We really hope you enjoy the video of the lovely Kelly and Rob's Wedding Day. Massive congratulations to them both and we wish them all the very best for their lives together with love, sunshine and happy days!

Huge thanks go out to the very talented Sebastian for sending us the link for this video and please take a look at his other work which can be found at www.sbfilms.co.uk

Electric or Acoustic Drum Kit, that is the question!

Taylormade Live Band set up with the electric drum kit at Kilworth House Wedding Venue, Leicestershire.

Taylormade Live Band set up with the electric drum kit at Kilworth House Wedding Venue, Leicestershire.

Here's a lovely shot of the Taylormade 4 Piece Live Band set up at Michelle and Paul Nicoll's Wedding in the Cellar Bar at Kilworth House in Leicestershire on Saturday night (15th April 2017).

Those of you with a keen eye will see that we chose the electric drum kit for this performance. The reason for this is that the Cellar Bar is really cozy with beautiful exposed stone and low ceilings. This makes it a wonderful, atmospheric venue but can cause problem with the sound for inexperienced bands.

Here at Taylormade we've been professional musicians since 2008 and have performed at hundreds of Weddings and Events across Northamptonshire, and the whole of the UK. We've played in Barns, Churches, Glass Houses, Cellars, Orangeries and Chapels just to name a few!

Taylormade Live Band set up with the acoustic drum kit at Ashorne Hill House Wedding Venue, Warwickshire.

Taylormade Live Band set up with the acoustic drum kit at Ashorne Hill House Wedding Venue, Warwickshire.

Each of them have different acoustics so it's extremely important to have the option of an electric drum kit. Why, I hear you say? Well, if a room has low ceilings, maybe a lot of glass, perhaps lots of stone work or maybe even just not many soft furnishings, then there is nowhere for the sound to be absorbed. This means the sound bounces around, essentially creating a wall of noise and therefore there is no clarity to the performance. With an electric drum kit the sound is pushed towards the dance floor through the PA system, rather than bouncing around the room as it would with an acoustic drum kit.

Every Wedding Band should be able to offer you the choice of acoustic or electric kit because an acoustic drum kit does not suit every single wedding venue! If you're not sure whether to have the electric or acoustic drum kit at your wedding or event, please get in touch. Give me a call on 07976 096 347, email me on hello@taylormadeliveband.co.uk or contact us through the website. We can chat through the details and decide on the best option for your special day!

The night that Taylormade Live Band helped to change lives!

Taylormade Live Band performing at Macmillan Northamptonshire

On 11th March 2017, the joint Macmillan Cancer Care Committees of Wellingborough, Rushden and Northampton came together for the Macmillan County Charity Ball at the beautiful Edwardian Pavilion at Wicksteed Park in Northamptonshire - the first event of it's kind for Macmillan anywhere in the UK.

17310239_1332135753488455_1100080164405800402_o.jpg

Together the committees created this wonderful evening with the hope of raising thousands of pounds for this fantastic and most worthy of causes, and to highlight the incredible work this charity does.

The committee had originally contacted Taylormade Live Band back in September 2016 and were keen to see us live before they booked...something we strongly recommend and actively encourage all potential clients do.

Six committee members came along to our October showcase to see the 4 Piece Live Band in action, and were so impressed that they had confirmed within 24 hours that they wanted us to be their live band on the night!

We were incredibly excited and honoured to have been booked to play this prestigious event and during the week leading up to the ball, we received confirmation that tickets for the event were completely sold out! This meant that Taylormade would have an audience of around 350 people, including the Lord Mayor, ready to party and shake their moves on the dance floor....and we were only too happy to oblige!

The evening started with a glass of bubbles to bring a little sparkle to the occasion, and the gala dinner was a sumptuous four course meal incorporating local and seasonal ingredients.

Matt playing the solo to 'Dancing On The Ceiling'!

A talented young four piece jazz band from the local school played some beautiful instrumental numbers as guests dined, which really added to the atmosphere. Behind them was the backdrop of our brand new TaylorMade drum skin, taking centre stage to build the intrigue and anticipation for our sets later on in the evening!

Leading up to the ball, guests had been encouraged to take part in a 'Silent Auction' with incredible items available to the highest bidder. Guests could bid on a flight to the Shetland Isles to see the Northern Lights, a 24 hour stay on the private island 'No Man's Fort' and a VIP day trip to Monaco to see the F1 Grand Prix, amongst others.

All of the proceeds from the evening would be going to Macmillan Cancer Care in Northamptonshire, keeping the funds in the county to support local services.

Once the desserts and coffee were finished it was time for Taylormade to take centre stage! The committee had requested 3 x 40 minute sets instead of the usual 2 x 60s, so that guests could catch their breath a little, refill their glasses or keep on dancing to the DJ during our breaks.

We played a brilliant selection of classics and a few modern day tracks for good measure and even debuted three new tracks on the night - 'Can't Stop The Feeling' by Justin Timberlake, 'Cake By The Ocean ' by DNCE and 'Dancing On The Ceiling' by Lionel Richie, all of which went down a storm!

As you can see from the photos the dance floor was packed throughout the evening and even the 'Taylormade Tambourine' had an incredible time!

We have just found out that the grand total raised on the night was a massive £27,500! Thank you so much to everyone who attended, donated and bid on the auction items...this money will change lives.

Also we'd like to say a huge thanks to Damian at 'Big Bopper Entertainment' for the great photos and support on the night!

If you would like to come along to a Taylormade Showcase and see our Acoustic Duo or 4 Piece Live Band live in action before you book for your Wedding or Event, please check our next showcase dates here and get in touch. We'd love to meet you all! Carley, Matt and the Taylormade boys! x

Krakow - Wedding Abroad or Fantastic Honeymoon/Mini-Moon Destination!

Wawel Castle

Wawel Castle

Hi guys! I’m going to write about something a little different today. I usually write about the Wedding Day, Song Choices, the ‘First Dance’ and try to give you little hints and tips about how to make the Wedding Day itself run as smoothly as possible. However, one thing I’ve noticed is that when we are chatting with the Bride and Groom at the end of the night, the conversation always seems to turn to the Honeymoon! Where are they going? How long are they going for? What are they looking forward to the most? So, as the Wedding doesn’t end when the music stops, I wanted to write about a possible Wedding/Honeymoon/Mini-Moon destination instead.

Main Square in the Snow - magical!

Main Square in the Snow - magical!

Matt and I have just returned from a week’s break to the beautiful Polish city of Krakow. According to legend Krakow was founded by a hero called Krak who killed a dragon by feeding it animal skins filled with sulfur. Well whether that’s actually true or not, I can honestly say that we had one of the best week’s of our lives! If you are looking for beauty, culture, history and fantastic cuisine, then Krakow is the place for you. Never mind the fact that you can get a beer for £1!!!

We have been lucky enough to visit some top destinations including Budapest, Prague and Rome. Whilst each of these city’s is incredible in their own right, there was just something about Krakow that pipped them to the post for us. I didn’t really have any big expectations….I’d heard all about the ancient colosseum in Rome, I knew that Walt Disney modelled his Magic Kingdom Castle on Tin Church in Prague and I certainly didn’t think it could compete with the majesty of the lions sculpted onto the Chain Bridge in Budapest.

How wrong we were. Krakow is a breathtakingly beautiful city. It’s medieval market square is the biggest in Europe at 200 x 200 metres and it’s history dates as far back as 966 AD. But there was a lot more to Krakow that it’s beautiful buildings, squares and castle. Krakow’s got soul…..and by the bucket load.

Market Square

Market Square

With a history as tumultuous as they come, Krakow, and Poland itself, seems to have a style all of it’s own. I quiet confidence, an assured resilience and an upbeat positivity. A phoenix from the ashes of history. After all the ‘Iron Curtain’ only came down in 1989 and, combined with this, Poland is just starting to find it’s feet again after the devastating losses of World War 2. All of this makes it an intriguing place to visit and whether for your Wedding, Honeymoon Mini-Moon or just a Romantic City Break with the one you love, we strongly recommend that you do.

So, what can you do on your Honeymoon or Mini-Moon in Krakow?

Have stunning Wedding Photos Here! Have breathtaking pictures taken around Wawel Hill on the banks of the River Wisla with the Castle and Cathedral as your backdrop. The locals have their Wedding photo’s taken here and best of all, it’s completely free!

Take a magical horse drawn carriage ride around the Old Town - Especially romantic during the Winter with a warm blanket, mulled wine and the snow coming down!

Get married in a Salt Mine! - Have your Ceremony or Reception in the stunning chambers of the Wieliczka Salt Mine with it’s chapels and rooms made of pure salt!

Eat delicious ‘Pierogi’! - Poland’s version of dumplings but made with pasta rather than bread or potato. We loved it!

The location of the famous film

The location of the famous film

Visit Oskar Schindler’s Factory - Most of you will have seen the film ‘Schindler’s List’. Oskar Schindler saved the lives of 1200 jews during the Holocaust by convincing the Nazi’s that they were indispensable to him to run his business. Visit his enamel factory to learn the dark and eternally uplifting stories from this time in history.

Try a Krakovian Bagel - ‘Obwarzanek Krakowski’! Protected by the European Union only bagels made in Krakow can be classed as authentic. Find a street seller and give it a go. With prices at just 1.5 Zlotys (25p!) you'd be mad to miss out!

Zakopane

Zakopane

Take a trip to the mountains! For those adventure seekers in you, just an hour away from Krakow is the beautiful mountain retreat of Zakopane in the Tatra Mountains, on the border with Slovakia. Stay in a gorgeous wooden chalet and climb, hike, swim or ski, snow board and chill in the Winter.

Wieliczka Salt Mine

Wieliczka Salt Mine

The above is far from an exhaustive list of things to do in this intriguing part of the world but I hope my blog has ‘whet your appetite’ for a destination that is a little different yet ticks every box. Adventure, History, Culture, Beauty, Brilliant Cuisine, along with a warm welcome make Krakow one of the best places we have ever been to.

If you would like any further advice or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to let me know!

Happy Planning!

Carley and Matt x
