Charlotte & Mark’s Wedding, The Finch’s Arms, Rutland Water

On the 11th April we headed to Charlotte and Mark’s Wedding Reception at The Finch’s Arms on the shores of Rutland Water to perform for them at their UK reception.

Charlotte and Mark had actually tied the knot in Australia before heading to Charlotte’s home county in the UK to celebrate and party with the UK friends and family. Mark himself is an Aussie so it was a fun mix of relaxed Aussie and historical English tradition for this lovely couple.

The Finch’s Arms is a 17th century English Old Country Inn tucked away in the heart of the Hambleton Peninsula on the shores of Rutland water. With old wooden beams and a breathtaking terrace overlooking the water it was the perfect place for a relaxed, fun evening.

Charlotte had requested the use of our PA and microphone for the speeches so our time at The Finch’s Arms starting with us setting this up and checking the sound levels to ensure all corners of the room were in ear-shot.

(Helpful Wedding Tip: When you are considering the venue check whether they have their own PA and microphone. You should be able to play background music through during the Wedding Breakfast and use their microphone for your speeches...knowing this in advance can save you further hire costs and should be included for free with the venue where available.)

Leading up to the big day Charlotte had been in touch to ask us if we could learn their First Dance track; ‘Thinking Out Loud’ By Ed Sheeran and we were delighted to do so. The track has such beautiful lyrics for a Wedding and it’s always great when we get to learn a really popular, modern day track to keep the set list up to date with brand new artists and tracks. We performed Charlotte and Mark’s First Dance as the acoustic duo and it was a really beautiful moment as everyone joined them on the dance floor and sang the last few lines along with me...what a touching moment. Charlotte look breathtaking in her ivory lace gown and Mark matched his beautiful new wife in a stylish black suit.

After the First Dance we went straight into the Wedding Party Duo (with backing tracks) with a really lively, full band sound to get everyone on the dance floor! It really was a fantastic night and it always makes it a big difference when the Bride and Groom and their guests are in the mood to hit the floor and dance the night away! In between the heckling and banter there were giggles all round...not just from our side as we before our eyes there were crazy dance moves, some silliness and outrageous, yet good clean fun! Ending the night with loads of DJ requests and Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing' was the perfect end to a fantastic night for Charlotte and Mark!

Since then the brand new Mr and Mrs Smith have sent us this lovely note to say thank you:

“We had such a fantastic evening and thank you so much to you and Matt for the music, it was awesome! Everyone really enjoyed it and my Dad is still raving about it! We really appreciated you learning the Ed Sheeran song for us too; it was really beautiful and thank you for setting up mics for our speeches. Thanks again, you've been great in the run up and on the day, I'll definitely be recommending Taylormade to friends!” Praise indeed!

Wishing Charlotte and Mark all the very best for their lives together down under in Australia! Carley & Matt x
